No More Business as Usual

October 17, 2008

Dear Praying Friends,

“There will be no more business as usual!” We are calling for churches around the world to suspend their usual order of service on Sunday, November 2, 2008. We encourage you to use the prayer guide below to turn your usual Sunday gatherings into prayer meetings for both the United States presidential election and the global economy. “The prayer of the righteous man is powerful and effective.”

With you in battle,

Cindy Jacobs

No More Business as Usual

At the beginning of August as I was in prayer, I heard the Lord speak to me, “There will be no more business as usual!” Little did I know the scope of what this meant—on a world wide scale.

God is on the move. I have taken this, like many others have, as a major focus of intercession. Just as there came a moment in time when God judged the gods of Egypt, so He is judging the god of mammon.

Nations are standing, literally, on a cusp of history that will determine their course for generations to come. He is judging the ideologies of nations. He is moving to put the fear of the Lord not only on His church but upon the nations of the world.

Respected leaders who are not given to alarmism or streams, and churches not given to saying, “I have heard from God”, have shared in recent days that they believe we are in such serious times that a time is coming that we could even have food shortages.

So, how do we respond? What do we do? First of all, we pray. We fervently pray. Here is what we are asking churches to do on Sunday, November 2, 2008, believing the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14:

  1. The churches of the world shall become a “house of prayer for all nations”. Suspend all “business as usual”. It is time for a Joel 2:12-17 moment for the church.
  2. Ask your congregants to fast breakfast before they come to the service. Isaiah 58:13-14
  3. Repent specifically in these ways and others that the Lord shows you. For example:
    • For loving money, possessions, and comfort more than God.
    • For not living a life of holiness: i.e. any pornography, sexual sin, lust, etc.
    • For not loving the poor.
    • For not ministering to the lost.
    • For not praying for your nation to the extent that you should.
  4. Repent if you have not given tithes and offerings to the Lord. Malachi 3:8-12
  5. Cry out to the Lord to help you get out of debt and be good stewards of the finances that God has entrusted into your hands. Repent specifically for living on credit beyond your means to pay.
