PRAYER AT THE LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE

October 29, 2008 – Day of Prayer for the World’s Economies

Dear Intercessors

One never quite knows the full effect of such a global expression of intercession as the Day of Prayer for the World’s and the UK’s Economies. In a way, it is a holy experiment and one never attempted before on such a large scale for economies.

The evening before the Day of Prayer there was a historical hail, sleet and snow storm here in England. The Lord revealed Job 38:22 while driving through the storm that evening; ”Have you entered the treasury of snow, Or have you seen the treasury of hail, Which I have reserved for the time of trouble, For the day of battle and war?”

Headlines the next morning read “First snow in October in 70 years.” We were greatly encouraged to know that the Lord had gone before us. We sensed the snow and hail storms had been an outward manifestation of the spiritual warfare which had already been waged in the heavenlies over the nation. October 29th was a beautiful day in London: bitter cold, but clear blue skies.

With a wide diversity of Christians from different backgrounds, approximately 130-150 of the Lord’s believers gathered at City Temple Church in the heart of London. We then rallied into 15 intercessory troops. Pastor Ron Woods then charged us to go out and take back the Stock Exchange, the banks and all the financial institutions for God’s name sake.

With a massive banner of the Lion of Judah (representing Jesus) standing upon the backs of the “bull and bear,” symbols of the stock market season, we marched, en mass, to the New Gate Street entrance of the London Stock Exchange. We called for the gates to open up and let the King of Glory come in! We then disbursed by groups and encircled the London Stock Exchange building.

Some groups read an official decree “divorcing mammon.” We repented for greed, corruption, lack of love for the poor, incorrect use of credit, and other things there as well; and cried out to God for mercy.

We asked for the forgiveness of leaders and government officials for making covenants with foreign gods and demonic powers; for sacrificing our children, jeopardizing our safety, diminishing our prosperity, and maligning our freedom. We cried out for God to establish righteousness in the stock exchange, revival in the market place, and that He would raise an economy built on His Kingdom principles.

Reuters News Broadcasting came along with a film crew, staying with the assembly from the City Temple Church to our re-gathering at Paternoster Square, which lies between the financial institutions and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Their report was primarily positive and un-biased.

Today, only God’s supernatural intervention can save the economy.

So, what do we do?

  • Repent for any greed, love of money, corruption, misuse of credit or lack of tithing that you have participated in or any iniquities from your family in that vein.
