Chasing the Dragon: Asian Ministry Trip and Prayer Journey - February, 2008
Ten years ago I traveled from Hong Kong to Macau (at that time Macau was Portuguese-owned but now has reverted to China). I went by hydrofoil to pray with some key leaders from Hong Kong and Taiwan, and our mission was to pray for unity in the Body of Christ of Macau and for a move of the Holy Spirit. I am pleased to report that the mission was accomplished and has born great fruit!
Upon returning from our prayer time to Hong Kong, the Lord drew my attention to a biblical passage in Revelation 12. What the Holy Spirit revealed to me that day was something I felt would one day become a major key to open up all of Asia for a mighty concerted move of God.
This is the rhema I received that day:
“Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. Then being with child, she cried out in labor and I in pain to give birth. And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.” Revelation 12:1-3,6
From this passage, the Holy Spirit spoke to me that a day would come when the churches across Asia would renounce the worship of the dragon in their roots. Many of you know that the peoples of this region of the world have had some form of allegiance to the dragon for 5,000 years. There has been a great spiritual empowerment that they have derived from “birth until death” that has been given over to the dragon through different forms. China has the golden dragon, the red dragon, the white dragon, etc. People who are born in the astrological “year of the dragon” are proud of that fact—even some believers. When Hong Kong was changed from British rule to China’s, many Christian leaders boasted of being the sons of the dragon once again.
I had no idea that God would bring the full-circle fulfillment of that vision through a business leader from Hong Kong. In order to fully understand how God supernaturally brought freedom to Asia from the dominion of the dragon, a little spiritual history is in order:
In October of 2005, Mike and I were in Argentina with Ed Silvoso and Harvest Evangelism for their annual city-reaching conference. Ed had introduced us to a couple from Hong Kong, Roy and Yuk Lynn Chen. Yuk Lynn owns a factory in Hong Kong where she has planted a church, which is a remarkable story.
