Pray 100 - Day 1

January 17 – The Security of a Nation

“If the LORD does not build the house, it is useless for the builders to work on it. If the LORD does not protect a city, it is useless for the guard to stay alert.”
(Psalm 127:1; GWT)

Citizens from across the nation are beginning to arrive in Washington, D.C., for the inauguration of Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States of America. Leaders and others from many nations in the earth are arriving, as well. The question on everyone’s mind is, “Will I be safe at this high-profile event?” In this era of global terrorism and lone-gunmen, this is a significant question. There are those that regularly guard the President and our national security, including the Secret Service and the CIA. The Washington, D.C., police force daily watches over the nation’s capital. They will be joined by approximately 3200 police officers, 13,000 military troops and 6,000 National Guardsmen from across the nation. These additional enforcers of the law will reportedly help handle everything from security checkpoints, traffic control, parade route safety and helping people deal with the weather. With more than 800,000 expected for Inauguration Day, some of whom will be protestors, we are very thankful the security will be tight.

Points for Prayer:

Though the numbers of individuals providing security for the inauguration will be many, let us pray Psalm 127:1 over the event—that, unless the Lord guards the city, it is useless for the guards to try to keep it safe. Intercede for the Lord to alert law enforcement to every detail that could erupt into violence.

Pray for supernatural protection over Donald Trump, Mike Pence, their families and their property.

Ask God to protect each individual coming. Cover their flights, their ground transportation and their lodging. Pray that they would be on the alert and watchful over their surroundings.

Get a map of the inaugural site and pray as specifically as you can over the next few days for the whole area, the security entrances, and especially the inaugural platform.

Pray over the parade route.

Pray for the safety of all those providing security, as well.

Declare 2 Thessalonians 3:3 over Washington, D.C., and other significant U. S. locations: “But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.” Decree that every plan of darkness will be uncovered, dismantled and rendered harmless and there will be no distraction leading up to or on Inauguration Day!
