Pro-Life Heartbeat Bill
Today is a sober day in American history. The impeachment trial of President Donald J. Trump is beginning in the U. S. Senate. President Trump is being accused of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. He is specifically accused of pressuring Ukrainian President Zelensky to investigate his political rival, Joe Biden's, son, Hunter Biden. House Democrats said he then blocked them from investigating the matter. The decision to impeach the president was split right down party lines, with a couple of Democrats joining the Republicans, but no Republicans joining the Democrats. That says a lot.
So, last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sent the two articles of impeachment over to the Senate where the trial will now take place. The Church should be praying for a fair and just trial. Join us in praying Amos 5:24, "Let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream," until this process is completed.
We feel that the issue of the sanctity of Life is right at the heart of the fight going on in the impeachment trial. President Trump is solidly pro-life and has been a tremendous advocate for the unborn. This entire week our nation will have its feelings on abortion and life front and center. January 19th, we celebrated Sanctity of Life Sunday, where hundreds of pastors led their congregations in moments of intercession for the ending of abortion in America. Beginning last week and continuing through this next weekend, state and local Marches for Life will take place. Pray over the following Life issues:
"For you formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works and that my soul knows well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed, and in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them." (Psalm 139:13-16; NKJV)
The Pro-Life Heartbeat Bill, ensures that "if a heartbeat is detected the baby is protected." Heartbeat Bills have been introduced in 25 states and passed in seven and counting. Heartbeat Laws will ensure that instead of abortion stopping a beating heart, a beating heart will stop abortion.1
A heartbeat bill or fetal heartbeat bill is a controversial form of abortion restriction legislation in the United States which makes abortions illegal as soon as the embryonic or fetal heartbeat can be detected. In 2013, North Dakota became the first state to pass a heartbeat law. Several states proposed heartbeat bills in 2018 and 2019; as of May 2019, many such bills have passed. A fetal heartbeat can be detected at about six to seven weeks of pregnancy but may not be detectable until 12 weeks. 2
The Supreme Court's decision to legalize abortion on January 22nd, 1973, has led to an estimated 61 million abortions since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling.
Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, we must fight back in the spiritual realm in prayer.
Join us in prayer for the Pro-Life Heartbeat Bill:
Pray for the unborn babies: "Behold, children are a gift of the LORD; the fruit of the womb is a reward" (Psalm 127:3; NASV)
Pray for the mother's eyes to be opened:
"Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne?" (Isaiah 49:15; NIV)
Pray for the people to know the truth about abortion:
"To open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those sanctified by faith in Me." (Acts 26:18; NIV)
Pray this bill will not be overturned by the Supreme Court:
"What sorrow awaits the unjust judges and those who issue unfair laws." (Isaiah 10:1; NIV)
