Personal Restoration & Justice
“The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.” - Psalm 103:6 (NIV)
A Restoration of All Things
The Lord first began speaking to me about restoration early in 2012 when I had a dream. I was watching three young boys play, and there was an understanding in the dream that they were my sons. That was all there was, and then I woke up.
I remember lying there, puzzled by this. I have three children, although they are older now, but one girl and two boys—so I was trying to figure this out. And then it dawned on me that I do have three sons, only one of them died as an infant and has been in heaven for many years now. As this realization sunk in, I heard the Lord say, “All things shall be restored unto you.”
I wasn’t quite sure what to make of that dream then, but over time the Lord has repeatedly confirmed His word to me that we have entered a season of accelerated restoration. While I know that I will never see my young son brought to life on this side of heaven, what I believe the Lord meant to convey is that He intends to bring to life even things I had thought were long dead and impossible to restore.
Many of the prophetic words released for the past several years spoke of change and a restoration of justice for an increase of kingdom governmental order. If the kingdoms of this world are to become the “kingdoms of our Lord and His Christ,” then there must also be a restoration of righteousness, justice, mercy and truth (see Acts 3:21; Rev. 11:15; Ps. 89:14).
A Revelation of Justice
“… ‘let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,’ declares the Lord.” - Jer. 9:24, (NIV, emphasis added)
I had another dream, involving a motorcycle. My husband restores old vehicles, and in this dream, he had acquired a highly desirable and valuable vintage motorcycle, although I understood that it wasn’t running properly and needed work. The make of the motorcycle emblazoned on the gas tank was “Justice.” I believe the Lord was speaking that we’ve entered a season in which justice will be restored at an accelerated rate.
Justice conveys the idea of setting things fair and right, or of bringing about something due. It took me some time to realize that the Lord actually cares about personally restoring things to us that we have lost.
The biggest revelation I had concerning this involves an inheritance that I missed out on. My maternal grandparents had three children, one of whom was my mom. For some reason known only to them, they left my mom’s successors out of their will. (My mother died prematurely years before my grandparents.) My grandparents probably never had much money in the bank, but as farmers and ranchers, they did own large parcels of prime farm and grazing land—ultimately worth many millions of dollars.
My grandparents never hid how they had drawn up their will, and I rather philosophically accepted it. Although it did seem hurtful and unfair, I reasoned they had the right to do what they wanted with their possessions. And anyway, I had never counted on anyone’s assistance to make my way in the world.
Again, the Lord chose to speak to me through dreams. In one dream, I was in a vast warehouse containing many items. My maternal grandparents were there, and I understood all the items had previously belonged to them. Other grandchildren could speak up and claim items that they wanted or that interested them, but for some reason I could not. This did not even upset me—I seemed accepting of it.
Upon awakening, I re-examined myself before the Lord for any resentment or bitterness. It was the only thing I could think of that He might be asking me to do. But several nights later, I dreamed of my grandparents again. This time I simply saw them and exclaimed, “Hey, you were just in a dream of mine!”—and then I woke up.
A prophetic mentor with whom I shared these dreams brought this revelation—a spirit of deprivation had gained entry through this situation and was draining away various things in my life, including health and mental capabilities! It had never occurred to me that the Lord cared about the injustice of this situation, or that it had opened a door through which the demonic could work.
I then began to research the scriptures regarding inheritance and the justice of the Lord. Out of that I gained a whole new perspective—that which the enemy has stolen from you is not acceptable with God. And, He wants to restore justice as we come into agreement with Him.
Personalizing the Revelation
There are so many ways the Lord wants to restore justice to His children. Examples include things like lost inheritances, unfair litigation, broken relationships—to name only a few. Some suggestions for aligning with the Lord for accelerated restoration follow.
- Pray for the Lord to release His truth. Don’t be afraid to call something what it is (unfair, unjust, etc.), whether at an individual, corporate, or societal level. Align with what God says about a situation. (Rom. 3:4)
- Acknowledge any injustice in your life, and pray for the Lord to restore all things according to His governmental rule. (Zech. 9:11-12)
- Make a list of what has been stolen from you. If you had been robbed in the natural, the first thing you would likely do is make a list for the police. God wants a written record—not only so you remember, but also as a type of formal record.
- Pray and declare any pertinent prophetic words you have received. For example, I’ve received several prophetic words of land being restored to me—from people who knew nothing of my situation (one was from Cindy Jacobs!).
- Put things in His hands. He truly cares – and is ready to restore justice to you!
