January 19 – Under the Shadow of His Wings

“If you say, ‘The Lord is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.”
(Psalm 91:9-10; NIV)

Today, many days of celebrations begin! Besides the Inauguration tomorrow, Inaugural Galas and Balls, the Inaugural Parade, the National Prayer Breakfast and many other festivities will mark the change of presidential administrations from President Barak Obama’s to President-elect Donald Trump’s. It will be a fete of honor attended by most of the nation’s leadership. Many heads of state from around the world are coming. Mixed into this merriment will be American citizens from all walks of life—a microcosm of the United States. These places of joyful celebration could be seen by those who dwell in darkness as an opportunity to stop the transition or to wreak maximum havoc. We are going to need maximum heavenly assistance to make sure that a peaceful transition of power does occur.

Points for Prayer:

Pray Psalm 91 in its entirety over Washington, D.C. Now, pray it again over the United States of America.

Decree that no weapon formed against the Inauguration and related festivities over the next 5 days will prosper, but that every plan of wickedness will be uncovered and removed!

Pray for supernatural assistance to root out any dark plans. Ask the Lord to give the many security workers and law enforcement officers eyes like an eagles and sharp discernment as they move people through security checkpoints at various events.

Pray that anyone who is not supposed to come to Washington will be stopped by the Lord.

Intercede for local police, sheriffs, Department of Homeland Security officers, and other law enforcement agents as they work in other places across the nation. Pray that they would detect any plans to cause mass harm. Pray that their very presence would disarm any angry protest mobs.

Thank the Lord for His watchful care over every event! There will be many of His people in the nation’s capital. Rejoice that what He has promised in His Word, He will do!
