The Equality Act?
"He created them male and female and blessed them. And he named them "Mankind" when they were created."
(Genesis 5:2; NIV)
On February 25th, the House passed the Equality Act which, if passed in the Senate, would amend the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Its stated intent is to prevent "discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity and sexual orientation."
The ramifications of this Bill on American society would change our lives, and there is a very real threat of it passing.
The Equality Act would overhaul our federal civil rights framework to mandate abortion access and special privileges for sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI), leaving many to suffer the consequences, including women, children, medical professionals, and people of faith. The Equality Act mandates an anti-life, anti-family, and anti-faith agenda upon all Americans.1
Family Research Council lets us know of a specific threat to those of us in the Christian community:
"The Equality Act expressly exempts itself from the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), our nation's flagship religious liberty law.
"The Equality Act's expansion of public accommodations could require churches and houses of worship to violate their beliefs regarding how they use their facilities.
"Its change to employment law would prohibit some houses of worship from ensuring their clergy and employees abide by their doctrines or beliefs about marriage, sexual behavior, and the distinction between the sexes.
"Federal aid could be denied to students attending faith-based institutions unless those institutions abandon policies and practices reflecting their sincerely held beliefs about marriage and sexuality."2
Make sure and call or email your Senators and let them know you want them to vote "No" on the Equality Act." You can find your senators here.
Pray with us:
Ask the Lord to open the eyes of those that have been blinded by the enemy to truth and holiness regarding gender. This includes those who do not yet know Christ, and those who are His but who have come under the influence of the world around them: "Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don't believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don't understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God."
(2nd Corinthians 4:4; NLT)
Ask the Lord to give our Senators wisdom and revelation of the knowledge of Him. Without Him, they are not able to operate in the truth:
"I always pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight into the true knowledge of Him, for we know the Father through the Son"
(Ephesians 1:17; AMP)
Pray for the salvation of many. Hearts that know the Lord can be healed, delivered, and set free to be able to see: "To open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me."
(Acts26:18; NIV)
Help our Senators to vote in accordance with righteousness, so that judgment does not fall on the land: "What sorrow awaits the unjust judges and those who issue unfair laws."
(Isaiah 10:1; NIV)
