Black History Month

RPN

"There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
(Galatians 3:28; NIV)

"Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time of recognizing the central role of blacks in U.S. history. Also known as 'African American History Month', the event grew out of 'Negro History Week.’" 1

Black innovators have changed the way we live through their contributions. "Most people have heard about famous inventions like the light bulb, the cotton gin, and the iPhone. But there are countless other, often overlooked, inventions that make our daily lives easier. Among the creative innovators behind these devices are African-Americans. From the traffic light to the ironing board, there is a long list of products that have sprung up from the minds of black inventors:" 2 Some of these inventions include: home security system, three-light traffic signals, refrigerated trucks, Caller ID and Call Waiting, automatic elevator doors, electronic control devices for guided missiles, IBM computers and the pacemaker, and many more.

Join us as we acknowledge Black History Month and the many contributions African-Americans have made to our nation. We are one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Decree with us:

  1.  "From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands." (Acts 17:26; NIV)

  2. "For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to drink." (1 Corinthians 12:13; NIV)

  3. "But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going because the darkness has blinded them." (1 John 2:11; NIV)

  4. "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." (John 13:34; NIV)
